Winter 2025 Registration Information
Winter 2025 competitions commence in April, running through Term 2 & 3, excluding school holidays.
SEM Magic is offering places for boys and girls across U8 to U21 age groups, competing in local competitions at four associations:
✨ Frankston & District Basketball Association (FDBA)
✨ Chelsea & District Basketball Association (CADBA)
✨ Western Port Basketball Association (WPBA)
✨ Morington District Basketball Association (MDBA)
Important Facility Update
In 2025, Frankston & District Basketball Association will commence a major redevelopment of the Bardia Avenue site, expanding it from six to ten courts over a two-year period. During this time, court availability across the region will be significantly impacted.
As a result, SEM Magic has been advised that we will not receive additional court hire allocations at Jubilee Park Stadium, effectively capping our club’s growth.
Priority Registration for Existing Members
To ensure our current members have priority access, registrations for Winter 2025 will open exclusively for a limited time to:
✔ Current players
✔ Training participants
✔ Aussie Hoops members
✔ Siblings of current members
After this priority window, registration will open to the public; however, only a limited number of spots will be available due to court capacity constraints.
Registration Timeline
📅 Priority registration for SEM Magic members: Closes Wednesday 5 March
📅 Registration opens to the public: Thursday 6 March
📅 Final registration deadline: Sunday 23 March (or until age groups reach capacity)

One of the unique benefits of SEM Magic is our multi-game and competition flexibility. Players can compete in two competitions while attending just one training session per week. Members registering for a second game with SEM Magic are eligible for a $160 discount.
Playing in the correct age group based on year of birth aligns with SEM Magic’s principles of long-term player development and retention. Unless pre-approved, all players will be placed in the appropriate competition for their age.
Squad Training & Player Development
SEM Magic's Squad-Based Training system sets us apart from other clubs. Instead of isolated team practices, our teams train together across multiple courts, fostering a collaborative and consistent development environment. Coaches work as a team to deliver a unified training program, ensuring players develop at their own pace while becoming familiar with the club’s environment, fellow players, and coaching staff.
🏀ROOKIE SQUAD
✨Primary Age Groups: U8 teams, entry-level U10s
✨Focus: Introduction to basketball fundamentals
🏀FRESHMAN SQUAD
✨Primary Age Groups: U10 teams, advanced U8s, entry-level U12s
✨Focus: Development of fundamentals, introduction to transition offense, player roles
🏀SOPHOMORE SQUAD
✨Primary Age Groups: U12 teams, advanced U10s, entry-level U14s
✨Focus: Player roles, introduction to team offense, defensive principles
🏀JUNIOR SQUAD
✨Primary Age Groups: U14 teams, advanced U12s, entry-level U16s
✨Focus: Team offense, SEM Magic “style of play,” building team principles
🏀SENIOR SQUAD
✨Primary Age Groups: U16+ teams, advanced U14s
✨Focus: Expansion and development of all individual and team-based principles of play
Training Sessions and Schedule
All training sessions are held at Jubilee Park Stadium (Frankston). Days and times for each team/squad will be announced shortly after team selections. We anticipate the following training schedule:
✨ Tuesday: 4:15-5:15pm & 5:15-6:15pm
✨ Wednesday: 4:00-5:00pm
✨ Thursday: 4:00-5:00pm & 5:00-6:00pm
✨ Friday: 4:00-5:00pm & 5:00-6:00pm

Team Selections
Players are allocated to teams and training squads in accordance with our Player Development: Team & Squad Selection policy. The criteria for selection includes (but is not limited to) the following:

Playing in the correct age group based on year of birth aligns with the club principles for long term player development and retention. Unless discussed and approved prior, all players will be placed into correct competition based on their age.
Squad Trials
All players, new and returning, must attend a madatory trial selection session to assist with team allocations.
Winter 2025 Trials Information:
U8, U10 & U12 Age Groups:
✨ Sunday 6 April
✨ 1hr session between 9:30am-12:30pm
U14, U16 and U18 Age Groups:
✨ Friday 4 April
✨ 1hr session between 5:30pm-8:30pm
All trials are held at Jubilee Park Stadium. Times for each age group will be confirmed approximately 1 week prior.

Winter 2025 Fees
ALL-INCLUSIVE BASKETBALL FOR JUST $25 PER WEEK!
At SEM Magic, our simple single-fee model covers everything—team registration, match fees (including finals), court hire, coaching, social functions, and administration—all for around $25 per week.
This means exceptional value with:

COMPETITION & ASSOCIATION FEES:
💲 BV License = $32 per player (17yrs and under)
💲 BA Levy = $5.50 per player
💲 PlayHQ Service Fee = 1.89%
All players must have current Basketball Victoria (BV) Participation License & Basketball Australia (BA) Participant Fee (Game Development Levy) For more information about these fees visit BV Website

Payment Plans & Financial Aid
💳 PAYPAL PAY IN 4
PayPal Pay in 4 is conveniently integrated into the PlayHQ registration
form, allowing members to spread their fee payments over four fortnightly
installments. We encourage all members to take advantage of this service to pay their fees in full.
📅 EXTENDED PAYMENT PLANS
Families requiring additional financial support can apply for an extended
